Man Arrested in Broader Reign of Terror Across Brooklyn
A 27-year-old man from Brooklyn has been taken into custody, charged with multiple crimes that spanned several neighborhoods across the borough. According to authorities, Odyssey Head is linked to a series of slashings that left three people injured and hospitalized.
The attacks are believed to be random in nature. Over the weekend, one victim was struck on the subway near Cortelyou Road station, another in Foster and New York Avenue at night, and a third on Newkirk Avenue in East Flatbush earlier than 7 am Sunday morning.
Three individuals were injured in these attacks - ages 37, 53, and 56 - all of whom suffered lacerations on the left side of their faces before being taken to Kings County Hospital in stable condition.
Police linked Head with the series of slashings just hours after he allegedly set a fire in an apartment building at Flatbush Gardens complex. No one was injured during that incident, but investigators are reviewing potential connections between Head and the victims.
In addition to the charges related to the slashing attacks, police have linked Head to arson, burglary, criminal mischief, and other crimes. Three counts of attempted murder, three counts of menacing, and three counts of possessing prohibited weapons have been added to his list of charges.
Head's whereabouts were being evaluated in a hospital on Tuesday while he awaits arraignment in Brooklyn Criminal Court.
