DJI’s Neo 2 selfie drone has LiDAR for obstacle avoidance

DJI's latest selfie drone, the Neo 2, has arrived with a slew of upgrades that promise to make flying and capturing life's moments even more seamless.

The big-ticket item here is the inclusion of LiDAR sensors for obstacle avoidance. This cutting-edge technology pairs perfectly with downward-looking infrared sensors to create an enhanced safety net, allowing the drone to follow you during flight without worrying about collisions or hazards getting in its way. Integrated guards still protect the propellers from damage, providing peace of mind.

Another game-changer is the addition of gesture controls for effortless selfie videos on-the-go. By simply moving your hands around, you can adjust position and distance with unprecedented ease. The Neo 2 also supports motion controllers and DJI's RC-N3 remote controller, giving users a range of options to customize their flying experience.

Speed has been cranked up to almost 27MPH - significantly faster than the original's follow speed. According to DJI, this new drone is better equipped to handle challenging weather conditions, including maintaining a stable hover in winds up to 24MPH.

Battery life has also seen an upgrade, with a larger 1606mAh rechargeable battery that can deliver up to 19 minutes of use per charge - a marked improvement over the original's 14-17 minute range. The camera now features a dual-axis gimbal for smoother footage and has been upgraded to capture stunning 4K video at up to 60FPS, with manual piloting capable of reaching an astonishing 100FPS.

Internal storage has also seen a significant boost, increasing from 22GB to 49GB. However, the added weight due to these upgrades is still relatively minor, at just 16 grams more than its predecessor.

While the Neo 2's release is currently limited to China, DJI promises that it will be available in wider markets soon - and for those eager to get their hands on this tech marvel, prices are expected to remain relatively similar.

🤩 The upgrades on this new selfie drone are insane! I gotta say, this new selfie drone from DJI is looking SICK!!! 🤩 The LiDAR sensors and gesture controls are gonna make flying a drone so much more accessible, even for people who think they're not tech-savvy 😂. I mean, who needs to worry about crashing the thing when you can just move your hands around to adjust the camera? Genius! 💡 Also, 27MPH is pretty fast, but I'm curious if it's gonna be stable enough in those windy conditions... 🤔

idk why everyone's so stoked about this new drone 🤷‍♂️ i mean dont get me wrong the gesture controls sound cool and all but how often are ppl actually flying their drones in a way that requires manual adjustments lol? it just seems like a gimmick to me 💸 also i'm pretty sure 27MPH is not that much of a speed boost its just gonna be a buzzkill for those flying over crowded areas 🚫

Yaaas, can't wait to see these new upgrades put to use! 🚀 The LiDAR sensors are gonna make flying a breeze, especially during those crazy windy days. And gesture controls for selfies? just got my hands on the new DJI Neo 2 and gotta say its a beast! the LiDAR sensors are seriously cool i was worried about colliding with things but it feels super stable now especially when flying around people or obstacles 🤩 also love the gesture controls for selfies, so much easier to use than trying to navigate through menus on my phone. battery life is pretty decent too, can get like 19 mins of flight time which is more than enough for a quick video shoot 📸

omg can't wait for my Neo 2 to arrive 🤩!!! i mean, the new LiDAR sensors sound like a total game changer, so much safer flying around with obstacles avoided automatically! and gesture controls for selfie vids? pure genius 📸👍 i'm loving the faster speed too, almost 27mph is crazy fast! 💨 but what's really got me hyped is that it can handle wind up to 24mph now 😅. and wow, 100fps in manual piloting? mind blown 🤯. plus the 4k video capabilities at 60fps? perfection on a drone 📺. all these upgrades are just so exciting! 💥

🤔 the way we're constantly seeking to upgrade and improve our tools reflects our own insecurities about staying relevant in an ever-changing world... like how we need a drone that can fly faster and capture better videos just because we don't feel secure enough with what we already have... it's as if the pursuit of novelty is tied to our self-worth 📈

and on the other hand, DJI's upgrade from 14-17 minutes of battery life to 19 minutes shows us that even incremental improvements can make a huge difference in our daily lives - does that mean we're just looking for ways to extend our own fleeting moments of joy before they fade away? 🕰️

it's all about perspective, right?
