Snocaps: Snocaps review – Katie and Allison Crutchfield reunite with a little help from MJ Lenderman

For Fans of Americana, Snocaps Bring the Perfect Blend of Heartache and Humor

Snocaps, the latest project from Alabama twins Katie and Allison Crutchfield, are making waves in the music scene with their debut album. The band's sound is a perfect blend of headstrong, tender Americana, featuring the sisters alongside indie guitar star MJ Lenderman and storied alt-rock producer Brad Cook.

The four-piece has a rich history of collaboration, which is evident in the lived-in feel of their debut collection. With Snocaps, they're not just releasing music - they're sharing a piece of themselves with the world. The result is an album that feels like it's been five albums deep, despite being only one-off.

The chemistry between the band members is palpable from the get-go. During a recent conversation in Allison's car, she puts her foot down and the rest of the band is dared to close their eyes - a nod to the high-octane energy that permeates every track on the album. The result is an album about chasing integrity and conviction, told through soaring melodies and freewheeling guitar.

Snocaps tackle themes of self-sufficiency with poetry and pragmatism in songs like Over Our Heads and Wasteland and Cherry Hard Candy. These tracks feature Allison's signature twinned harmonies, now amplified by the dusty, aching Lenderman solos that add depth to their already potent sound.

The album is an instant classic - but only just. With a promise of just a handful of live shows on the horizon, fans are eagerly awaiting more from this band with such obvious, exhilarating chemistry. Can they resist driving further? Only time will tell, but for now, Snocaps have left an indelible mark on the music scene.

The band's history and chemistry are woven throughout every track on the album, making it a must-listen for fans of Americana. With Snocaps, Katie and Allison Crutchfield have created something truly special - a record that feels like a little slice of family history.

🎸 I'm not even sure why I'm wasting my time reading about this band... like 5 hours in and already had to scroll through so many repetitive sentences 🙄 "The chemistry between the band members is palpable" yeah, we get it. It's Americana music, what did you expect? 😴 Also, can someone explain to me why I have to go to a website just to find out how much an album costs? Like, can't they just give us a decent Spotify link or something? 🤦‍♂️

im not buying into this whole "new music is an instant classic" thing... i mean dont get me wrong, snocaps sound alright i guess, but isnt it just the same old americana vibes we've been hearing for years? and what's with all these live shows being touted as if they're some kinda big deal? isnt that just a marketing ploy to make people think they're special when really theyre just a bunch of folkies playing in a field somewhere 🤔

And MJ Lenderman's guitar work? 🔥 It's like they're speaking straight to your soul. What I love most about this album is how raw and honest it feels - like the band is sharing a private moment with you 🤫. The tracks that really stood out for me were "Over Our Heads" and "Wasteland and Cherry Hard Candy". Have you guys listened to Snocaps yet?

just listened to snocaps debut album and i'm still reeling from the energy 🤯 it's clear these guys have been working on their craft for ages, but at the same time, they're still really raw and edgy, you know? like, MJ Lenderman's guitar work is insane 🎸 and Allison's vocals are so distinctive - i love how she can switch between this super tender, vulnerable side and this snarky, sassy attitude 💁‍♀️ what i'm most impressed by though is the way they're not afraid to get a little messy and imperfect with their songs. it feels like they're having real conversations with you, rather than just spouting off lyrics 🤝
