John Lewis Unveils Luxury Lounge at Oxford Street Store, Offering Exclusive Perks to Loyalty Members
In an effort to win back customers who have flocked to rival retailers like Marks & Spencer, John Lewis is launching a luxurious VIP lounge at its iconic Oxford Street store in London. The bespoke space, dubbed the John Lewis Lounge, will offer loyalty card members a chance to relax and unwind with complimentary drinks, hand and arm massages, delicious chocolates from Waitrose, and snacks from Benugo.
Described as a "VIP retreat or third space" where customers can "rest and recharge," the lounge will cater exclusively to members of the My John Lewis loyalty scheme. Customers can book slots in advance or drop by if there's availability, with two guests allowed per booking. The VIP space has been designed to accommodate up to 30 customers per hour.
To entice more customers into its stores, John Lewis is investing heavily in refurbishments and hiring additional staff, a £800m project aimed at improving the overall shopping experience for shoppers. With annual losses nearly tripling to £88m in the first half of this year, the company recognizes the importance of luring customers back.
The launch comes weeks after the retailer reported record-breaking loyalty membership growth, with 3.8 million people signing up over the past year – a 13% increase. The success of its My John Lewis loyalty scheme has paved the way for an upcoming joint loyalty card valid across both John Lewis and Waitrose stores.
As part of its strategy to attract customers, John Lewis has been touting unique service-led experiences that set it apart from competitors. With the introduction of this luxurious VIP lounge, the retailer is poised to offer its loyal customers a truly bespoke experience that will keep them coming back for more.
