Miles Teller Gets Political On ‘SNL’ With Ramy Youssef and Shane Gillis

Miles Teller Takes Aim at Politics in 'SNL' Cold Open

In a nod to the upcoming NYC mayoral race, this week's SNL Cold Open brought together three candidates - Andrew Cuomo (Teller), Zohran Mamdani (Ramy Youssef), and Curtis Sliwa (Shane Gillis) - for a heated debate on New York 1. The sketch cleverly poked fun at the nuances of local politics, incorporating specific references to Hudson Yards that are sure to resonate with New Yorkers.

The cast's decision to avoid featuring any current SNL talent in the mayoral sketches could be seen as a strategic move, but it is worth noting that Kam Patterson made a notable cameo appearance as NYC mayor Eric Adams, while James Austin Johnson delivered an impressive portrayal of Donald Trump.

Moving on to Teller's monologue, he seemed nervous, which resulted in a slightly choppy performance. However, his opening bit about dressing up as SNL characters for Halloween and the Palisades Fire did bring some levity.

Other standout sketches included 'Hungover Halloween Game Show', where Teller, Ben Marshall, and Veronika Slowikowska delivered convincing performances as hungover contestants trying to recall their debauched nights. The Property Brothers' hilarious take on a White House ballroom makeover was another highlight, with Teller shining in both roles and Chloe Fineman delivering an excellent Melania.

The sketches 'Hockey PSA', 'Missing Wives Docuseries', 'Newsroom', and 'Murder Press Briefing' all demonstrated clever writing and execution. The latter two in particular stood out for their heightening of jokes, which added to the comedic effect.

The musical performances by Brandi Carlile were wonderful, showcasing her impressive range as a performer. Her sets included 'Church and State' and 'Human', both of which received critical acclaim.

Weekend Update delivered its usual brand of snarky commentary on current events, with Bowen Yang stealing the segment as George Santos. Colin Jost's straight-man demeanor was elevated by some surprisingly funny lines, including his reaction to Santos swiping his wallet full of female cast photos.

In closing, this week's SNL featured a good mix of sketches and performances that left viewers entertained and engaged. With Nikki Glaser set to return in two weeks, fans are eagerly anticipating the next installment.

I loved that they poked fun at Andrew Cuomo's style 😂. I mean, who can forget those infamous suits? And I gotta say, Miles Teller was a bit nervous on stage, hope he warmed up before his set 🤣. The 'Hungover Halloween Game Show' sketch was SO relatable, I'm pretty sure I've been in similar situations 🎉. And let's be real, the Property Brothers are hilarious together, especially when they're trying to 'improve' a White House ballroom 🏠👀. Overall, it was a solid episode of SNL, can't wait to see what Nikki Glaser brings next 💥

I'm so down for a mayor's debate sketch on SNL, but they gotta be more accurate with the NYC politicians' styles 🤣. Miles Teller was nervous, but I loved his Halloween monologue tho! The Property Brothers sketch on that White House makeover tho... 😂 I mean, who wouldn't want to see Drew and Jonathan trying to renovate the whole place? And Brandi Carlile's music was EVERYTHING 💖. Weekend Update had some solid jokes this week, especially with George Santos. Can't wait for Nikki Glaser's return next week! 🤞

I'm loving how Miles Teller took aim at politics in his SNL Cold Open 🤣. It was like watching a real debate, but with way more laughs 😂. The whole thing had me chuckling, especially when Zohran Mamdani's character went off the rails - totally relatable! And can we talk about Kam Patterson as Eric Adams? 👏 That cameo was genius! 🤦‍♂️ On the other hand, I felt a bit bad for Miles during his nervous monologue... gotta give him some time to warm up on stage 😅. The musical performances were on point too - Brandi Carlile absolutely killed it! 💥 And those Property Brothers sketches? Hilarious! 👏

omg what's up with miles teller he's all over the place on saturday night live 🤣 his cold open was kinda meh idk if it's cuz he's nervous or just not that into playing politicians lol and i'm loving the property brothers sketch tho, Telller and Chloe Fineman killin it in their roles 🎭👏

I don’t usually comment but I have to say, Miles Teller’s nerves didn’t really shine through during his cold open sketch 😊. I mean, it's a bit awkward seeing a real-life politician impersonated by an actor who's basically playing dress-up for laughs. Still, I guess that's what SNL does – makes fun of the serious stuff in a way that feels lighthearted? 🤔 The musical performances were on point though, Brandi Carlile is amazing! 🎸

Miles Teller trying out for mayor is either super funny or an awkward attempt at satire 🤣. Either way, it's a clever way to poke fun at NYC politics without being too on-the-nose. The whole cast killing it in that cold open had me grinning from ear to ear 😂. Brandi Carlile's musical sets were the icing on the cake – she always brings her A-game 🎶. SNL still got it, but I do hope Nikki Glaser can bring some more edge back when she returns 🤞. Overall, a solid episode with some real standouts.

omg u guys!! 🤯 i loved the snl cold open with miles teller!!! 🎉 he took a shot at politics which was so bold 4 him lol 😂 but yeah i felt bad 4 him during his monologue, it did seem kinda nervous 😅. ben marshall & veronika slowikowska tho SLAYED in the hungover game show sketch!! 💁‍♀️ chloe fineman as melania was EVERYTHING 🤣 cant w8 2 c what Nikki Glaser brings 2 the table nxt wk 🎉👏

I gotta say 🤔, I loved how SNL tackled politics in their latest cold open 😂. It's so refreshing to see them poke fun at local politics without taking themselves too seriously. And Miles Teller was on point with his nervous energy in his monologue 😅. The sketches were all top-notch, especially the Property Brothers take on a White House makeover 🤣. I'm also a big fan of Brandi Carlile's musical performances - she absolutely killed it 🎸. But what really stood out to me was how SNL managed to make current events funny again... well, at least in a satirical way 😂. Can't wait for Nikki Glaser to return next week 💃🏽!
