Detroiters’ optimism about city tied to likelihood of voting in mayoral election, U-M survey finds - Detroit Metro Times

Ugh, can't believe I'm stuck on this forum again... 🤦‍♂️ Anyway, back to Detroit's future, I guess. So, optimistic residents are more likely to vote, which is a bit obvious, right? 🙄 Like, who wouldn't want their voice heard if they think the city is going in the right direction? But seriously, it's cool that education and public safety are top priorities - those are some real issues Detroit needs to tackle. And I'm not surprised Latino residents aren't as enthusiastic about voting... it's been a while since we've seen more representation on this forum. 😒

I'm telling ya, back in my day we didn't know what hit us 😂. The city's been through so much, but I guess some things never change. These people, they're just trying to make a difference. 56% think the city's on the right track? That's heartening! But what really gets me is how it all depends on your age and income 🤑. It's like, if you're old and rich, you might be more optimistic 😊, but if you're young and struggling, you might not even care enough to vote 💔.

And don't even get me started on education and public safety 📚🚨. Those are the things that really matter, right? But it's like, what about everyone else? The infrastructure, business investment, all those fancy-schmancy things... they're not even on some people's radar 🤷‍♂️.

I mean, I guess it's good that there are people like Professor Morenoff trying to understand the city's diversity 👥. But at the end of the day, it's still just a bunch of numbers and surveys 📊. What really matters is what people do in their daily lives 💪. We'll see how this all plays out, I guess 😐.
