A devastating car crash in Bridgeport on Sunday night claimed the lives of two young women and injured two others, leaving a community shaken. The accident occurred at approximately 9:15 p.m. when a red sedan veered off course, crossed into the opposite lane, and was struck by a black SUV traveling eastbound on West 35th Street.
Two of the four occupants of the sedan were pronounced dead at the scene. Natalia Andrea Acevedo Mendez, 21, from Tampa, Florida, lost her life alongside an unidentified 24-year-old woman whose name has not been released. The other two individuals in the sedan suffered non-life-threatening injuries and were transported to Stroger Hospital.
The victims of the SUV, a black sedan, received treatment at the University of Chicago Medical Center, where they are expected to make a full recovery. Police have yet to provide further information on the cause of the accident or potential charges related to it.
