Post your questions for Geoff Barrow, of Portishead, Beak> and more

Tooth-and-nail trip-hop veterans Portishead are still going strong, albeit with a reduced live presence, thanks largely to their iconic frontwoman Beth Gibbons' untimely passing. Meanwhile, their erstwhile collaborator Geoff Barrow has been busy pursuing various solo ventures.

One of the most significant developments is his foray into film production, with Invada, his record label, launching its first cinematic endeavour, 'Game', set against the 1993 rave scene. This gripping thriller boasts a story co-written by Barrow and stars Sleaford Mods' Jason Williamson.

Barrow's path to filmmaking has been marked by numerous high-profile collaborations. As part of Beak> (of which he is still a member), he has released four critically-acclaimed albums, cementing his reputation as one of the genre's leading figures. However, in 2024, Barrow announced that he would be departing the band to focus on other projects, including Invada.

Invada has proven itself a fertile breeding ground for innovative talent, boasting an impressive roster of artists, from hip-hop project Quakers to electronic musicians like Gazelle Twin and Billy Nomates. The label has also scored soundtracks for several notable films, including Stranger Things, Drive, Red Dead Redemption, and Ben Wheatley's Free Fire.

Barrow's partnership with composer Ben Salisbury has yielded some truly exceptional scores, including the award-winning 'Ex Machina' and 'Annihilation'. When he left Beak>, Barrow cited a desire to devote himself to other creative pursuits, and now his new venture is beginning to bear fruit.

Fans can now put their questions about Barrow's varied career to rest, as Invada invites them to submit queries on anything from Portishead and Beak> to film production and beyond. Get your thoughts in before Thursday 6 November!
