iOS 26.1 lets you tweak Liquid Glass, and it’s out now

Apple has just dropped iOS 26.1, and among its various updates, the tech giant is giving users more control over one of its most polarizing design elements: Liquid Glass. Introduced in iOS 26, Liquid Glass transformed iPhone buttons, tabs, and other navigational elements into glassy, translucent designs that have both won fans and infuriated others.

With iOS 26.1, Apple has given users the option to tweak this feature by adding a new transparency toggle. Now, you can make your iPhone's interface more opaque or tone down its frosted look for buttons and other navigational elements, effectively restoring a more traditional design aesthetic.

This tweak is part of a broader update that also includes new language features, expanded controls for the Apple Music app, and improvements to camera functionality. Specifically, iOS 26.1 allows users to turn off the swipe action that opens the Camera app from their lock screen and provides improved FaceTime audio quality in low-bandwidth conditions.

Apple has also made several other notable updates with this release, including new swipe functions for navigating albums in Apple Music's MiniPlayer, support for Live Translation via connected AirPods in multiple languages, and gains control over external USB microphones when recording with local capture.

For developers, iOS 26.1 introduces several improvements to the device's camera functionality and supports features like AutoMix and manual workout logging directly from the Fitness app.

Across all platforms, Apple has released a comprehensive update that includes iPadOS 26.1, macOS Tahoe 26.1, watchOS 26.1, visionOS 26.1, and tvOS 26.1, providing users with a wealth of new features and improvements to enhance their iOS experience.

🤩 I'm loving this update! Finally, we get to control our own Liquid Glass destiny 💁‍♀️! It's about time Apple listened to our feedback on the UI. I mean, who doesn't love a good ol' traditional design aesthetic? 😊 But seriously, having a transparency toggle is super convenient, especially if you want to make your iPhone look more professional or if it's bugging you in a meeting 📅. Plus, all these other updates sound like game-changers for developers and music lovers 🎵💻! Can't wait to dive into the new features and see how they improve my daily iOS life 🤔💡

I'm actually kinda glad Apple made this change 🤔. I mean, don't get me wrong, Liquid Glass was pretty cool at first, but it's definitely polarizing... like, what's good is what you prefer? 😂 If you're not a fan of the glassy look, now you can tone it down and make your iPhone feel more familiar again 🙌. I've had my fair share of button mishaps with Liquid Glass, so this update is like a breath of fresh air for me 💨. Of course, some people might be bummed that they won't get to see the fancy glass effect anymore 😐, but hey, progress is good, right? 🎉

Ugh, Liquid Glass is still a thing 🤯👀 I get it, some people love the aesthetic, but can't we just have an 'off' switch for this feature already? It's been out for ages now and I'm tired of seeing my iPhone buttons all frosted up. At least with iOS 26.1, users finally have a way to tone down the transparency, so maybe it's not as bad as everyone thought 🙄. Still, some of these updates feel like Apple is just throwing stuff at us to make us think we're getting something new when really we're just getting more tweaks 🔩💻

Omg u guys!! 🤩 I'm literally so hyped about the new transparency toggle for Liquid Glass on iOS 26.1!!! 💥 It's like finally, we can have some control over how our iPhones look! 😅 I've been using it and it's honestly a game changer. No more frosted buttons or annoyingly bright interface... it's all about that minimalist chic now 😎. And can we talk about the other updates too? 🤯 New camera features, improved FaceTime audio... Apple is really stepping up their game 🚀! But let's be real, who needs all these new features if you don't have a customizable Liquid Glass toggle? 🙄😂

yaaas 🙌, finally! Apple's listening to its users for once 💻. I mean, who doesn't want more control over the Liquid Glass design? some people just like it, while others hate it, but now we can opt-out if we don't wanna deal with that frosted look anymore 👍. also, yay for improved FaceTime audio quality and camera functionality 📱👫. its always great to see apple innovating and giving us more options 💡. cant wait to try out these new features and see how they improve our overall ios experience 🤔💻

Omg I'm so excited about this update! 🤩 Like, who doesn't love having more control over their iPhone's design? I know some people were really into the Liquid Glass look, but others hated it, you feel? 😂 Now we can all just chill with a more traditional vibe.

I'm also loving the new swipe functions for Apple Music's MiniPlayer 🎵 and that Live Translation feature is so cool! 🌎 My friends are always traveling abroad and this will make their lives way easier. Plus, the FaceTime audio quality improvement is a total game-changer when it comes to Zoom meetings 😅.

As a student, I'm all about staying connected on-the-go, and with these updates, my iPhone is going to be even more reliable. The camera improvements are also super handy for taking pics of those late-night study sessions 📚👀. Can't wait to try out all the new features! 💻

I'm not sure I buy this whole Liquid Glass vibe... 🤔 It's been out for a bit now, and people were either super into it or completely against it. Now that we've got more control over how transparent everything is, I think we're just going to end up being all over the place 😂. Will people want to keep their iPhone looking all glassy and modern, or will they opt for something a bit more understated? And what about when we get new designs or hardware – will Apple just be able to revert back to whatever was good enough before without messing with our transparency settings 🤷‍♂️? I'm not convinced this tweak is going to solve anything...

Ugh, great, now they're just gonna make Liquid Glass even more obnoxious... like we didn't already have enough of it 😒. I mean, who thought it was a good idea to take something that's supposed to be functional and make it look all frosted and pretty? And now they're giving us the option to turn it off, but honestly, why bother? It's just gonna get pushed back in with some new "feature" or whatever... 🙄. And don't even get me started on the Camera app swipe action being turned off - what a waste of space, just gonna make everything more cluttered now 📱💔.

omg, I'm so glad Apple finally listened to people's feedback about Liquid Glass 😅. I mean, don't get me wrong, it was kinda cool at first, but some of us just wanted our iPhones back to normal 🙌. The new transparency toggle is like a dream come true! It's amazing how something so simple can make such a big difference in the overall user experience. And can we talk about how awesome it is that they're finally giving users more control over this feature? 💪 I'm loving the updates on camera functionality too, especially the improved FaceTime audio quality 📱💬. And for all you devs out there, AutoMix and manual workout logging are game-changers 🏋️‍♀️💻!
