Dita Von Teese as you’ve never seen her before - Detroit Metro Times

Detroit-based photographer Chas Ray Krider has been capturing the essence of Dita Von Teese, a blonde bombshell who would one day become an iconic burlesque and fetish icon. The two met in 1998 while Krider was working on his "Motel Fetish" series featuring women in hotel rooms.

Von Teese's charisma and Old Hollywood-style glamor were immediately apparent to Krider, who saw her as destined for stardom. He photographed her several times over the next few years, using a cinematic approach that evoked the feel of a film still. The results are stunning, with Von Teese posing in lavish hotel rooms, surrounded by dim lighting and saturated colors.

Krider has remained in touch with Von Teese over the years and is compiling his photos into a forthcoming book titled "The Dita Sessions," which she has given her blessing for. He praises her work ethic and creativity, saying that she deserves everything she gets.

The exhibition of Krider's photographs, as well as Von Teese's own work, will be on display at the Dirty Show, an annual erotic art festival set to take place in Detroit from February 13-21. The event is known for its eclectic mix of art, burlesque, and drag performances, as well as its irreverent humor.

For Krider, theDirty Show represents a chance to showcase his work alongside some of the most innovative and provocative artists in the industry. He sees it as a way to challenge traditional notions of art and push boundaries, much like punk rock did when he was younger.

This year's Dirty Show promises to be bigger and better than ever, with a range of performances, exhibitions, and installations that will delight and inspire attendees. As for Krider and Von Teese's collaboration, it seems that the photographer has found a kindred spirit in the iconic performer – someone who shares his passion for creating something truly unique and unforgettable.

Man... I remember when photography was all about capturing a moment, you know? Nowadays it's like, everyone's got a camera phone 📱 and just snapping away. Chas Ray Krider is doing things right, taking the time to get those iconic shots of Dita Von Teese, she's a total old-school glamour girl 💃🏻. Reminds me of Sophia Loren back in the day... anyway, it's cool that he's got her blessing for his book and they're teaming up again at the Dirty Show 🎉. That festival always brings out the weird and wonderful side of Detroit... can't wait to see what this year's lineup has in store 😁.

OMG, I'm so down for this exhibition!!! 🤩 I love how Chas Ray Krider captured Dita Von Teese's essence all those years ago - she's still slaying the game! 💁‍♀️ I've always been a fan of her Old Hollywood vibes and I can see why Krider saw her as destined for stardom. The way he photographed her in them lavish hotel rooms is, like, straight outta a movie 🎥! Can't wait to check out this exhibition at the Dirty Show - it's gonna be lit 🔥

TheDirty Show is like a microcosm of America right now 🤯 - we've got art, burlesque, drag... it's all about pushing boundaries and challenging the status quo 🎨💃. And Chas Ray Krider's photography is like a reflection of our times - all about capturing the essence of something special and making it last forever 📸. I mean, who wouldn't want to see Dita Von Teese in all her Old Hollywood glory? It's like we're seeing the glamour of the past collide with the art of today 🕰️💥. And Krider's collaboration with Von Teese is a testament to the power of creative partnerships - just think about how many artists and performers have found their voice through collaborations like this 💬👫. The Dirty Show is more than just an exhibition - it's a reminder that art can be provocative, innovative, and unapologetic 🤪.

the way krider captured von teese is so surreal 🤯 he saw this blonde bombshell in the making and just rolled with it, capturing her essence in these cinematic stills that look like they were plucked straight from old hollywood films 🎬 i mean, who wouldn't want to be immortalized in a series of photographs that evoke a bygone era? it's like he anticipated von teese becoming this icon and wanted to freeze the moment in time. and it's so cool that krider and von teese have remained friends over the years - their chemistry is undeniable 💕

omg i'm literally shook by chas krider's work on dita von teese 🤯📸 she looks like a real-life movie star in those hotel room photos 🎬💃 and the way krider captures her essence is just magic ✨ i mean, can you even imagine meeting someone who sees your potential for greatness when no one else does? 💖 it's like krider saw dita as more than just an icon, but a person with talent and drive 🤝 and that book 'the dita sessions' is going to be EVERYTHING 📚🎉 i'm so down for the dirty show this year, can't wait to see all these amazing artists and performers in one place 🎉💥

Sounds like just another case of a famous person cashing in on their connection to some random artist 🤑. Chas Ray Krider's whole thing is pretty shallow, if you ask me - all these Photoshopped hotel rooms and Von Teese's Old Hollywood looks... where's the substance? And what's with this "The Dita Sessions" book? Just another way for them to make a quick buck off their fans. TheDirty Show is probably just going to be a bunch of overpriced nonsense, catering to the usual crowd of poseurs and wannabes 🤪.

I'm low-key excited about this exhibition 🎉 but also kinda think Chas Ray Krider might be glossing over Dita Von Teese's exploitation history 💁‍♀️ I mean, we're still living in a time where the term "fetish" is often used to fetishize women's bodies, and it's not always clear whose body we're talking about 👀 That being said, Von Teese has been an outspoken advocate for artists' rights and feminist causes, so I guess you could say she's doing some good with her brand 💖

I'm literally so stoked about this exhibition! I mean, can you imagine seeing some of Dita Von Teese's most iconic pics alongside Chas Ray Krider's work? 🤩 The way they describe the photoshoots sounds like total magic - all that old-school Hollywood glamour and dim lighting... it's like stepping into a vintage film set. And the fact that Krider has remained in touch with Dita over the years is just so cool! I love how he praises her work ethic and creativity, she must be an amazing person to have such admiration from him. Anyway, I'm definitely gonna try to check out this exhibition in Detroit - it's gotta be a wild ride with all the burlesque, drag, and art performances 🎭💥

📸💡 I'm loving this collab between Chas Ray Krider and Dita Von Teese! It's like they're pushing the boundaries of art and self-expression, just like our First Amendment rights do in this country. The way Krider captures Von Teese's essence is really about empowering women to be their bold selves, which aligns with our feminist values 🤝. And let's not forget about the Dirty Show, it's all about embracing the weird and wonderful, just like how we celebrate individuality in America 🇺🚀. It's gonna be a wild ride, folks! Get ready for some provocative performances and stunning art pieces that'll leave you speechless... or maybe that's exactly what they're going for? 😉

I love how he's pushing boundaries with art and challenging traditional notions, just like punk rock did back in the day 🎸. TheDirty Show sounds like an absolute blast, can't wait to see the performances, exhibitions, and installations! 💥 It's amazing that Krider has found a creative partner in Von Teese, their collaboration is definitely going to be unforgettable 😘.

I mean, have you seen some of these exhibitions lately? All this "art" is just people posing in hotel rooms with fancy lighting... 🤔 I'm not buying it. It's all about the aesthetics, but what about substance? Where's the depth? Dita Von Teese might be a legend in her own mind, but to me, it's just a bunch of overpriced nudes and fancy poses. And don't even get me started on the dirty show... sounds like a total circus 🎪

omg i'm so down for this exhibition 🤩! Chas Ray Krider's photography is insane, and pairing it with Dita Von Teese's work is like a match made in heaven 😍. I love how he captured her essence all those years ago, she's still serving up that Old Hollywood glamour 💁‍♀️. And the fact that they're collaborating on a book together is just amazing 📚. The Dirty Show is always a highlight of my year, but this one seems like it's gonna be on another level 🔥. Can't wait to see all the other performances and installations too 🎉!
