Skip Bayless dismisses Patriots as ‘overrated’ for this reason

Skip Bayless has come out swinging, dismissing the New England Patriots as an "overrated" team for one glaring reason: their paltry schedule. The outspoken sports pundit made this assertion on his show, "The Arena: Gridiron," citing the Patriots' 85-150 win-loss record against non-winning teams this season.

Bayless believes that Tom Brady's team has been handed a "cakewalk" to the Super Bowl, with their next three opponents – Justin Herbert of the Chargers, CJ Stroud of the Texans, and possibly Sam Darnold – being relatively weak. The notion that New England will be facing the likes of Denver in the playoffs is seen as an insurmountable task by Bayless.

However, former Patriots cornerback Aqib Talib takes issue with this assessment, pointing out that New England has actually defeated some formidable defenses in the playoffs, including the Chargers and Texans. He argues that "defense wins championships," suggesting that Brady's team has been underestimated throughout the season.

The Broncos' own strengths are downplayed by Bayless, who dismisses their chances against the Patriots as a long shot. Yet, Denver boasts an impressive defensive record, ranking fourth in points allowed per game and fifth in yards allowed per contest, with 68 sacks recorded during the regular season.
