Its research highlights the dangers posed by these lakes, which form when rock debris blocks a river’s flow and creates a natural dam. When this dam bursts, it can unleash devastating floods downstream.

Nepal needs to take proactive steps to manage its glacial lakes and mitigate the risks they pose. This requires more than just scientific research; it demands a comprehensive approach that incorporates urban planning, disaster preparedness, and environmental management.
