omg this is so sad!! i was checking my basement door all morning before the storm hit, i could sense something was off and now i'm so glad i double checked lol. i've been saying it for years, people need to be more prepared for these types of situations... a 10 minute storm can lead to a disaster, like literally what happened in Brooklyn . mayor adams is right on the money, it's not rocket science to keep our basements dry during heavy rain. RIP to those who lost their lives, my thoughts are with their families
just great, another storm to add to the never-ending list of reasons why people in NYC should just pack their bags . i mean, who needs basement homes when you can have a flood victim's story as a cautionary tale? it's not like we haven't been warned about this before... like, seriously, how many times do we need to see the " sewer system overwhelmed" narrative play out on live tv? the fact that emergency responders showed up but couldn't save the guy is just a nice bonus - gotta make those headlines pop, right?
Umm this is so sad I mean two people literally got swept away by the flood and died... it's just crazy. I'm all for city officials warning us about basement flooding, but like how do you know exactly when to prepare? These storms can be super unpredictable . And the mayor saying it was a 10-minute storm that overwhelmed the sewer system is just wild . I'm also wondering what kind of maintenance is required on those sewer systems to prevent this kinda thing from happening in the first place... like, how often do they get cleaned out?
