Local Missouri TV Anchor Allegedly Stabs Elderly Mother on Halloween, Claims Self-Sacrifice
A shocking crime scene unfolded in a quiet neighborhood of Wichita, Kansas, as Angelynn Mock, 47, was found staggering out of her home with blood-soaked clothes, leaving neighbors traumatized. The drama began around 8 a.m. on Halloween morning when Mock approached nearby residents' vehicles, hands and body dripping with blood.
According to eyewitnesses, including Alyssa Castro, who lives in the neighborhood, Mock asked for their phone to call 911. Castro's boyfriend, who was driving her car at the time, had his phone retrieved from him by Mock and later returned after authorities intervened. The couple expressed gratitude that they were able to assist with the emergency call, but also acknowledged the unpredictability of such situations.
When authorities arrived at the scene, Mock was waiting outside with visible injuries on her hands. Inside the residence, police discovered Anita Avers, 80-year-old mother and marriage and family therapist, in a state of distress with multiple stab wounds. Despite immediate medical attention, she succumbed to her injuries just half an hour later.
Mock has been apprehended by the Wichita Police Department and booked into Sedgwick County Jail on $1 million bond for first-degree murder. The motive behind the alleged crime remains unclear, but authorities have indicated that Mock claimed self-sacrifice as the reason for her actions.
A brief look at Mock's past reveals a life of varied professions, including a two-year stint in the workforce before switching to data management with multiple offices across the Midwest. Her most notable role was as an anchor on KTVI Fox 2 in St. Louis from 2011 to 2015.
