Ugh, i'm literally livid about this child benefit fiasco . thousands of families have been affected and it's just so unfair . I mean, can you imagine not knowing if your kid is getting the benefits they need because of some dodgy data ? It's just unacceptable .

And what really gets me is that HMRC knew this was a problem but still went ahead with it anyway . I'm all for cracking down on fraud, but not at the expense of innocent families . And now they're saying it's no big deal and that they've apologized . Sorry doesn't cut it when people's lives are being affected .

This whole situation just stinks . I'm so glad someone is stepping up to speak out against this, like Steve Darling from the Liberal Democrats . We need more voices calling out this kind of incompetence and prioritizing the needs of those who really matter .

This is getting out of hand . I mean, thousands of families were totally messed up by some dodgy travel data. It's not like they were asking for it or anything. And now HMRC is just brushing it off saying they didn't do anything wrong... yeah right . The ICO getting involved is a good start, but we need to see some serious changes happen here. This whole thing reeks of a massive bureaucratic mess. I'm not sure what's more concerning, the fact that people were wrongly denied benefits or that HMRC thought it was okay to use sketchy data in the first place .

And can we talk about the timing for a second? After the carers allowance scandal, this is just another nail in the coffin. It looks like there are some serious issues with how our welfare system is being run. I'm all for rooting out fraud and all that, but not at the expense of people who need help . We need to get to the bottom of this and make sure it doesn't happen again.

It's also pretty clear that HMRC needs a major overhaul . They clearly didn't do their due diligence on that travel data before using it to stop child benefits. I mean, how hard is it to double-check some info? It's not like they were trying to cover up anything... or are they ?

ugh, this is so stressful for those families I mean, can't we all just get along and support each other? it's like, they're trying to crack down on fraud and stuff, but doing it in a way that hurts innocent people. anyway, kudos to HMRC for apologizing and taking steps to fix the issue and I love that they're going to cross-check travel data with PAYE tax data it's like, we're all in this together, right? and Steve Darling is right on point with his concerns about our welfare system let's hope we can make some positive changes out of this
