The Playdate is a great indie puzzle machine

The Playdate is more than just a quirky handheld console, it's also an excellent puzzle machine. For those looking to escape into the world of puzzles every morning, this little device has got you covered.

One standout game that comes to mind when thinking about the Playdate's puzzle offerings is Lexgrid. This word-based puzzle game is like a cross between a word search and a crossword. Each level presents you with a grid of letters and a clue about the words you need to find. However, there's a twist – the clues can have multiple meanings, requiring you to decipher their intended use.

As you progress through Lexgrid, the puzzles become increasingly complex, and you'll be left to figure things out on your own without any explicit instructions. This is both exhilarating and frustrating at times, as you might find yourself stuck for minutes or even hours before a breakthrough hits. Fortunately, the game provides multiple puzzles to solve simultaneously, so you can easily switch between them whenever you're stumped.

Another puzzle gem from the Playdate's library is Togglebot. Fans of Nintendo's Boxboy series will appreciate this more lo-fi take on the genre. You play as a tiny character navigating through black-and-white levels by flipping switches and using portals to change your color. With its limited options and focus on spatial awareness, solving these puzzles requires experimentation and careful thinking.

Lastly, there's What Time Is It?, a puzzle game that lives up to its title. Each page presents an image with numbers or playing cards, and you need to decipher the time of day from it. The hint system is available when needed, but most of the time, it's just you staring at the image, trying to figure out what it means.

If you're looking for more puzzle goodness on your Playdate, be sure to explore Itch.io or the Catalog shop. There are plenty of other hidden gems waiting to be discovered.

omg I'm OBSESSED with my new playdate console!!! 🤩 I mean, yes it's quirky but like who cares when there are so many sick puzzle games to solve! Lexgrid is literally my fave right now, I love how the clues can have multiple meanings and you gotta figure it out on your own... it's so satisfying when you finally get it 😊. And Togglebot? 🤔 that game is like a mini-version of Boxboy but still super fun to play. What Time Is It? is also really cool, I love how it's not just about solving the puzzle but also about timing and stuff 🕰️. have u tried any other puzzle games on the playdate yet? 🤔

omg u gotta try Lexgrid on ur playdate its like a word puzzle party 🎉🤯 u got this but good luck figuring it out sometimes lol and i'm def loving togglebot it's like boxboy but less intense 😅 what time is it tho? idk either but its so satisfying when u get it 💡

I'm loving the Playdate console so far, especially their puzzle games! 🤩 I mean, Lexgrid is like a mental workout for your brain - it's hard but so satisfying when you figure out those tricky clues 😅. And Togglebot is just pure nostalgic fun for me, brings back memories of playing Boxboy on my old 3DS 😊. What Time Is It? is also super clever, I love how you have to think outside the box (or in this case, the clock face) 🕰️. The thing I'd love to see more of though is the indie games on itumarket or whatever they call it - there are some awesome hidden gems just waiting to be discovered! 👀

I think The Playdate is getting a bad rap because people just don't understand its quirky charm 🤪. People say it's not as powerful as the Switch, but that's like comparing apples and oranges – it's meant for puzzle enthusiasts, not gamers who need 4K graphics and all that jazz 💻. And honestly, I think the lack of online multiplayer is a plus, you can just play with your friends or family in person instead 🤗. Plus, Lexgrid is so addictive, I spent hours on it last week trying to beat my high score 😂. Don't @ me when it's 2am and you're still stuck on level 10 🔴.

I JUST LOVED THE PLAYDATE'S PUZZLE GAMES!!! LEXGRID IS SO ADDICTIVE IT'LL KEEP YOU UP ALL NIGHT TRYING TO SOLVE THOSE COMPLEX CLUES 🤯! AND TOGGLEBOT IS LIKE A MORE RELAXED VERSION OF BOXBOY, WHICH I LOVED IN MY NINTENDO DAYS 😎. WHAT TIME IS IT? IS SUCH A BRILLIANT GAME THAT REQUIRES YOU TO THINK OUTSIDE THE BOX (LITERALLY!). THE BEST THING ABOUT THE PLAYDATE'S PUZZLES IS THAT THEY'RE NOT JUST ABOUT GETTING THE ANSWER, BUT ALSO ABOUT UNDERSTANDING HOW TO SOLVE THEM IN A CREATIVE WAY 🤔.
